Likewise, within cancer survivors, the mean compliance score significantly increased 0-3 years postdiagnosis (MD = 0.07, P < .05) compared to pre-diagnosis, but this significant improvement was not maintained over the longer term (MD = 0.037, P > .05). Conclusion: In this sample, survivors had higher MHB score than controls. A cancer diagnosis may provide a teachable moment for health behavior change in the period immediately following diagnosis, but this effect was not sustained during longer-term survivorship.]]> Wed 22 Feb 2023 15:02:13 AEDT ]]> Co-worker perceptions of return-to-work opportunities for Japanese cancer survivors https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:32743 Return-to-Work (RTW) opportunities for colleagues with cancer-related symptoms and/or treatment side effects in Japan. Methods: We conducted an online, cross-sectional survey of 3710 employed Japanese individuals of working age. Colleagues' perceptions of RTW opportunities for cancer survivors were examined (using a Japanese questionnaire), along with workplace factors such as job demand, job control and workplace social support (using the Brief Job Stress Questionnaire). Associations between workplace factors and RTW opportunities were evaluated using multiple logistic regression analysis, with participants stratified in tertiles (low, middle and high) according to their levels of workplace social support and job control. Results: Colleagues' perceptions of inadequate RTW opportunities were associated with low workplace social support (middle tertile: Odds Ratio [OR] 1.22, 95% Confidence Interval [CI] : 1.08-1.36; low tertile: OR 1.43, 95%CI: 1.30-1.57; p for trend < 0.01); low levels of job control (middle tertile: OR 1.27, 95%CI: 1.06-1.50; low tertile: OR 1.91, 95%CI: 1.64-2.21; p for trend < 0.01); and no prior experience working with a cancer survivor (OR 2.08, 95%CI: 1.83-2.31). Conclusions: This study suggests that workplace factors and prior experience of working with a cancer survivor may affect a colleagues' perception of RTW opportunities in Japanese workplaces. Consideration of workplace social factors (workplace support and job control), as well as increased openness and awareness of the particular needs of cancer survivors, is therefore essential to facilitate successful RTW in Japan, as elsewhere.]]> Wed 17 Nov 2021 16:29:12 AEDT ]]> Compliance with multiple health behaviour recommendations: a cross-sectional comparison between female cancer survivors and those with no cancer history https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:35698 Wed 17 Nov 2021 16:28:24 AEDT ]]> Multiple health behaviours in cancer survivors: does a cancer diagnosis provide a teachable moment for health behaviour change? https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:48066 Wed 13 Mar 2024 14:02:23 AEDT ]]> Issues for cancer survivors in Australia https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:7391 Wed 11 Apr 2018 15:19:52 AEST ]]> Young adult cancer survivors' psychosocial well-being: a cross-sectional study assessing quality of life, unmet needs, and health behaviors https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:13565 Wed 11 Apr 2018 12:09:28 AEST ]]> A Rasch analysis of the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) among cancer survivors https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:13571 Wed 11 Apr 2018 11:52:42 AEST ]]> Social-ecological correlates of physical activity in kidney cancer survivors https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:23937 age= 64.4 ± 11.1 years, 63.2 % male, and 82.2 % having localized kidney cancer. In the final multivariate model, meeting PA guidelines was associated with disease stage (OR = 0.25, p =.005), having drug therapy (OR = 3.98, p =.009), higher levels of instrumental attitudes (OR = 1.66, p =.053), higher levels of intention (OR = 1.72, p =.002), and the perceived presence of many retail shops in the neighborhood (OR = 1.37, p =.032). Conclusions: Meeting PA guidelines in KCS were associated with various aspects of the social-ecological model. Implications for Cancer Survivors: Understanding the social-ecological correlates for PA can provide insight into future interventions designed to increase PA in KCS. Prime targets for PA promotion should consider treatment-related factors, promote the benefits of PA, and enhance positive perceptions of the built environment.]]> Wed 09 Mar 2022 16:02:22 AEDT ]]> Translating research into practice: Outcomes from the Healthy Living after Cancer partnership project https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:54244 Tue 13 Feb 2024 13:18:32 AEDT ]]> A rapid review of needs assessment tools for post-treatment cancer survivors https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:42870 Tue 06 Sep 2022 09:38:27 AEST ]]> Maintenance of lifestyle changes at 12-month follow-up in a nutrition and physical activity trial for cancer survivors https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:30409 Thu 27 Jan 2022 15:57:05 AEDT ]]> Measuring the psychosocial health of adolescent and young adult (AYA) cancer survivors: a critical review https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:9727 Thu 01 Aug 2019 17:14:28 AEST ]]> Recruitment of representative samples for low incidence cancer populations: do registries deliver? https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:14304 Thu 01 Aug 2019 17:13:57 AEST ]]> In reply: anxiety and depression among long-term survivors of cancer in Australia: results of a population-based survey (letter) https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:7922 Sat 24 Mar 2018 08:42:20 AEDT ]]> Is psychological distress in people living with cancer related to the fact of diagnosis, current treatment or level of disability?: findings from a large Australian study https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:10533 Sat 24 Mar 2018 08:13:57 AEDT ]]> Cancer and the psycho-oncologist: psychosocial well-being of cancer survivors https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:11402 Sat 24 Mar 2018 08:09:59 AEDT ]]> Prevalence and predictors of the short-term trajectory of anxiety and depression in the first year after a cancer diagnosis: a population-based longitudinal study. https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:16494 Sat 24 Mar 2018 08:05:37 AEDT ]]> Some things change, some things stay the same: a longitudinal analysis of cancer caregivers' unmet supportive care needs https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:20257 Sat 24 Mar 2018 07:59:56 AEDT ]]> Measuring quality of life in cancer survivors: a methodological review of existing scales https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:5600 Sat 24 Mar 2018 07:49:25 AEDT ]]> What are the unmet needs of breast cancer survivors 5-6 years post-diagnosis? https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:5903 Sat 24 Mar 2018 07:47:57 AEDT ]]> Determinants of physical activity in young adult cancer survivors https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:28488 Sat 24 Mar 2018 07:39:36 AEDT ]]> Adherence to multiple health behaviours in cancer survivors: a systematic review and meta-analysis https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:36889 5 years) survivors (PE 25%; 95% CI, 14%, 36%).
